ASAMI India – Associate Membership
Eligibility:
Associate Membership is open to:
- A. Orthopaedic Trainees: Those pursuing a recognised postgraduate degree/diploma in orthopaedic surgery.
- B. Allied Medical Professionals: Physicians, surgeons, physiotherapists, and specialists in physical medicine and rehabilitation involved in limb reconstruction or Ilizarov surgery.
Rights & Transition:
- Associate Members may attend scientific meetings, social events, and participate in scientific discussions.
- They cannot attend business meetings or participate in elections.
- Orthopaedic trainees, upon obtaining a recognised degree, are eligible to become Life Members on payment of the prescribed fee.
- Allied professionals shall continue as Associate Members.
- The membership fee for Associate Members will be decided by the Association from time to time.
Subscription Fee:
- The subscription fees for various membership categories shall be subject to change as prescribed by the Association from time to time.
- For Orthopaedic Postgraduates: The subscription fee is Rs. 2,500 payable as the first instalment. The second instalment of Rs. 2,500 will be due upon completion of the postgraduate degree, at which point they may apply for Life Membership.
- For Physicians, Surgeons, or Allied Professionals: (e.g., Physiotherapists, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation specialists) involved in limb reconstruction/Ilizarov surgery: The subscription fee is Rs. 5,000 payable as a single instalment.
Cessation of Membership – ASAMI India
- Voluntary Withdrawal: A member wishing to withdraw must submit a written notice to the Secretary at least three months prior to the Annual Conference of the Association.

Termination Due to Misconduct:
- The Executive Committee (EC) may issue a show cause notice for actions damaging to the dignity of the Association.
- The notice must be served at least 4 weeks before the next EC meeting.
- The member may appeal by writing to the Secretary within 14 days of receiving the notice.
- The EC may decide, by majority, to temporarily suspend the member until the matter is placed before the General Body, which may then choose to revoke the suspension or terminate the membership.

Medical Council De-registration:
- If a member's name is removed from the Medical Council register, their ASAMI India membership is automatically terminated.
- If re-registered, the member may reapply with the new Medical Council enrolment certificate.
